Have you ever been faced with the challenge of redeveloping an existing database? Perhaps moving to another platform altogether? It's at times like these that we start looking for whom to blame for the documentation that was supposed to describe the current system, but doesn't.
The greatest challenge facing database professionals is to get the job done, but at the same time keep the documentation up to date. Let's face it, its easier to "just add a new column" with a quick ALTER TABLE command than to wade through all the documentation to make sure it is up to date before doing that two minute job.
With Database Design Studio, we put the tools in the hands of the database professional that makes the temptation to skip the documentation less appealing. In fact some of our users have commented that it is easier to make the changes in Database Design Studio than it is to make the changes in the database.
The reward of good documentation is of course secondary to the database performance gained through a good design. Understanding relational database design, our software has always enforced proper design methodologies. Using the Chen Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) as a basic building block, our software helps the designer work through his database design, managing referential constraints and consistency behind the scenes. The end result is a database that is properly deployed, properly documented and completely maintainable.
Because we use a true ERD as the modeling paradigm, many universities throughout the world have taken our software into their lecture rooms to teach ERD principles to under-graduate students. IT professionals in companies like Boeing, Hewlett Packard, and IBM are using our software to manage their database design projects. We believe that this speaks for itself.
Our software design philosophy has been to develop software that is flexible enough to enable developers to focus on the design, independently of the DBMS targets. The same design should be suitable for Oracle or Access, SQL Server or MySQL without design-time consideration of where it is being deployed. We are pleased that we have been able to achieve this objective through always keeping that philosophy before us, making all application design decisions around that paradigm.
Database Design Studio is a suite of three main products;
DDS-Pro, DDS-Lite and SQLConsole.
DDS-Pro is our flagship application that is targeted at database professionals working with large, complex systems that require reverse engineering as well as forward engineering.
DDS-Lite has been the core of our development work for more than six years. This application is designed specifically for forward engineering of small to medium database projects. It is ideally suited to database professionals who manage medium sized database installations and computing students doing database course-work.
SQLConsole (SQLC) is a drag and drop visual SQL query builder that can interact with any DBMS that has an ODBC driver.
All of our software is available for free trial and we encourage you to take it for a test.
Our support team is on hand to answer any query you may have.
Just drop them an email detailing your question.
If you have any comment about our products, please send us your
